A proper breakfast can help you burn more fat.

Eating slow release carbohydrates (complex carbs) like oatmeal and muesli is suggested in research to help burn more fat when eaten 3 hours before exercising. This study has been posted in the Journal of nutrition.

I have maintained for years now that eating highly processed foods and simple carbs can lead to weight gain and other health issues.  Eating low glycemic real, complex carbohydrates, lean proteins and good essential fats are the only way to lose weight, be healthy and maintain an active lifestyle.

In the study on days when the women ate the low-GI breakfast, they burned nearly twice as much fat during a 60-minute walk as they did on the days when they ate the high-GI meal. Here’s why: because the muesli (low-GI) breakfast was more slowly digested, it didn’t spike blood-glucose levels as high as the cornflake (high-GI) breakfast did. In turn, insulin levels didn’t spike as high either—which probably explains why the muesli-eating women burned more fat, says Ian MacDonald, Ph.D., director of research at the University of Nottingham Medical School. Insulin plays a role in signaling your body to store fat. So, lower levels of insulin might help you to burn fat.

So first of all make sure you eat breakfast.  Make sure its a healthy low glycemic breakfast and in my opinion take your USANA Supplements.

Here’s a great USANA Shake to start your day.  I drink this shake and others everyday for breakfast at least a couple of hours before I head out to teach very intense, one hour fitness classes.  You can substitute your own protein powders etc.  I use USANA because they are certified low glycemic and manufactured to much higher standards than most products out there.  What’s on the label is in the product in that exact amount. No fillers, pesticides etc.

 

250 ml of water or more depending on desired consistency

2 scoops of USANA Nutrimeal – Strawberry or Vanilla

1 scoop of USANA Fibergy

1 cup of Presidents choice frozen mixed berries

2 tsp of USANA Optomega essential oil.

Optional – one packet of USANA probiotic.
