Food Allergies Assesment
Have you found that you experience a varying degree of discomfort when consuming certain foods? Do you find yourself craving foods that usually end up making you feel “lousy”? Have you shared this with your doctors only to hear that this is not something to worry about?
At Sanoviv we understand the seriousness of consuming foods that are not in balance with your body. This lack of balance can show up as a food allergy, food intolerance or food sensitivity.
Food allergies can be defined as an adverse immunological response to otherwise “harmless” foods. Since many of these “harmless” foods are present at every level of the food chain, we can be dealing with an invisible trigger for various diseases and symptoms. Far from harmless, when food activates our immune system to attack our own body, this food is a toxin that we need to avoid.
There are 2 types of food allergies, one that can be immediate which is called IgE mediated and one that can cause a delayed reaction which is called IgG mediated. Sadly, our diet is rarely considered as an area of interest in western medicine and many of these issues go undetected, allowing this imbalance to create severe damage to our bodies.
Food intolerance or non-allergic food hypersensitivity is a delayed, negative reaction to a food, beverage or food additive. It can involve symptoms in one or more body organs and systems, but is not a true allergy, as it is not mediated by the immune system.
Food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities create a wide range of symptoms and affect various systems such as:
- Cardiovascular: Irregular heartbeat, Edema, Vasculitis.
- Gastrointestinal: Chronic Diarrhea, Celiac Disease, Colic in babies, Constipation, Crohn’s disease.
- Immune: Serous Otitis Media
- Genitourinary: Chronic Bladder Infections, etc.
- Musculoskeletal: Arthralgia, Myalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Mental/emotional : ADD, anxiety, depression, memory loss, schizophrenia, etc
- Skin: Eczema, itching, etc
- Respiratory: Asthma, Sinusitis, etc
When we are reactive to more than one food that we consume regularly there is an increased permeability of the gut mucosa, which can play a part in several health issues, whether as a trigger or mediator of a disease. The presence of an increased permeability needs to be evaluated and treated, as this can block other aspects of healing by not allowing our body to assimilate nutrients correctly and create excessive inflammation. Chronic stress and the presence of certain parasites and other pathogens have been shown to increase permeability of the digestive tract.
At Sanoviv we use various tools to detect food allergies, sensitivities and intolerances. Here are some of our assessment tools:
Although this is something that every doctor and health facility offers, we strive to use our clinical experience for the benefit of your treatments. Whereas many health professionals streamline this process, we pay our complete attention to detail, as each aspect of your health tells the story of how you gradually lost your health. This will give us a wealth of information to find the best answers and treatment protocol for regaining your health.
We start off by focusing on the Clinical History of our guest, looking closely for risk factors that can range from life style, genetic predisposition, chronic infections, exposure to chemicals, pesticides, etc. Our entire health team works to create a comprehensive history of your health issues by focusing on each particular discipline and then weaving it all together. From here, it is much easier to determine what treatments have the best chance of success.
Food Diary and Nutritional Assessment
Your nutritional history will give us a wealth of information of how your food choices have affected your health, especially in regards to foods that you react to. Proper nutrition and water intake are cornerstones of great health. Many of us, for many different reasons, have fallen short of following a “good diet.” This can have profound effects on our health, especially if these pervasive patterns have been with us since childhood. We will thoroughly asses this and provide you with the most recommended diet and supplement plans for your specific health goals. We will also help you maintain a food diary to record important information of how you feel with certain foods.
This is a diet recommended for people that suspect that they have reactions to a specific food, and yet are not sure which foods are causing these symptoms. In this diet, we recommend completely avoiding the foods that people most commonly react to: wheat, soy, dairy, corn, citrus, tomatoes, etc.
Then, when sufficient time has passed, these foods are reintroduced one at a time to see if they produced any specific reactions. This will give us a clear idea of the correlation between these foods and associated symptoms.
Advanced laboratory testing
Specific tests can also be done to identify the type of immune response that these food allergies create. Depending on the type of immune response, we can develop a specific plan to support your greater balance. We can also test for intestinal permeability to see if these food allergies have already compromised the lining of the cells in your digestive system.
Hidden infections or parasites:
Another area that usually goes unexplored in food allergies is the possibility of hidden infections or the presence of parasites in your body. These can create a chronic inflammatory state in the body that can exacerbate your symptoms. We have many different options to assess this possibility here at Sanoviv. Biofeedback testing We have several Bioenergetic assessment tools that can give us valuable information about your current health state and how some of the physical symptoms might be showing up in your Bioenergetic field.
Not only do we have state of the art diagnostic and assessment tools, we have a fully integrated team of health professionals who will study all of this information and connect the dots in determining not only why your biochemical, physiological, structural and psychospiritual individuality has contributed to the food allergy, but also how you can regain your health. Disease usually creates multiple and interrelated imbalances in the person’s life. You will work in partnership with your team of health professionals that in turn will work with the whole staff of health professionals to create a program specifically designed for you from all the information obtained.
